WHAT’S YOUR ELEMENT? EARTH, SEA, FIRE PERFUME DIY

There’s something about California and the coast of Malibu, situated somewhere between the city and a throwback to a slower kind of life. In fact, there’s few who would argue that there’s nothing more mesmerizing than the sight of rolling breaks and houses clenching to the coastline on stilts…paired with a sunrise or sunset doesn’t hurt either. Just sayin’

Sometimes, we’re so enamored by our surroundings, we’ve asked ourselves, how do we bottle this up and take it with us anywhere…

Inspired by that notion and our knack for DIY we decided to bottle up our take on the scents and smells of California and set out to create our version of – Earth, Sea, Fire.

Rest assured, once you get the supplies, everything else will come naturally…

Supplies:

- Fragrance Oils

- Droppers

- Base Oil – we used Jojoba

- Roller bottles (to mix the scents)

- A little imagination

We began by organizing our scents. Given perfumes are often ultra-complex and a combination of varying scents, we separated them by those with an earthy base, sea-reminiscent scents, and those exuding warmth and fire to help guide your sense of smell. When blended together they create a unique scent that can change throughout the day given your mood, location, and sense of smell – each as unique as the individual.

Let this serve as a ‘guide’, but feel free to improvise based on your own unique sense of smell. As a tip, try limiting your selection of scents to 3, so help simplify the process and help you master the art of blending.
